CATUCOSO is an association that seeks the economic, social and cultural development of the Canton of Garabito and the Central Pacific region. We seek to stimulate and promote in civil society greater participation and support in projects and initiatives that serve as a link between our associates and the local government for the promotion of their own commercial activities and activities in the area in order to strengthen them as a destination. tourist par excellence; having as an important priority the conservation of the environment, through the development, implementation and execution of policies for the management, use and responsible care of natural resources.
Our chamber was born in September 2017, with a shared feeling among a group of merchants from the Garabito community that we want a better canton and a better tourist projection both nationally and internationally.
From the birth of the Chamber of Tourism and Sustainable Commerce of the Central Pacific to date we have managed to associate more than 100 merchants from the Garabito and Central Pacific area. All with the same vision and sharing the need for unity and teamwork to create a force and a voice to fight for the development of tourism projects that offer a different and attractive alternative to tourists, so that they feel satisfied of having visited. our canton and therefore Costa Rica and that you are left with the desire to return and recommend us as a destination to family and friends.
Garabito is known as the cradle of National Surfing, however, it offers various means of entertainment, such as bird watching, adventure tourism (kayak, canopy, atv tours, stand up paddle tours, paragliding, horse tours) , landscaping, culture, gastronomic diversity with a wide range of restaurants that offer national and international dishes for all tastes, turtle watching, hiking, among others.
We are the second canton with the most population of the scarlet macaw according to the Pacific Limpets Association (ASOLAPAS), in Tárcoles, Garabito, so we have created a program in the area of reforestation of native trees so that they are nests of this species and they never lack food.
The Punta Mala wildlife refuge was opened in Playa Hermosa, Jacó, Garabito, in which turtles come to spawn in season, we have security at the refuge to prevent the theft of turtle eggs and with the assistance of the community when the release of turtles is required.
We have a biological corridor that covers the entire canton of Garabito and therefore, we have bird watching that promotes photographic tourism throughout the year. On the other hand, and no less important, as an effort of the Chamber of Tourism and Sustainable Commerce of the Central Pacific, we created the Canton brand “GARABITO SIENTELO” with the aim of promoting the canton of Garabito, as a healthy, sports, family destination , cultural that all the tourists who visit us leave really happy and satisfied with Garabito.
